About Me
Hi, I’m Brodie. With over 12 years of hands-on experience working with a wide variety of dog breeds, my journey began as a dog walker and evolved into founding a multi-award-winning structured doggy daycare centre.
My deep passion for canine behaviour led me to qualify as a dog behaviourist and trainer. Over the years, I’ve spent thousands of hours working with large groups of dogs, gaining invaluable insight into reading body language and truly understanding canine psychology.
I firmly believe that the key to overcoming behavioural challenges lies in building a strong connection with your dog. When you understand how your dog communicates and when you respond with calm, confident leadership, you can create a more balanced, rewarding relationship. Motivation, clarity, and trust are at the heart of everything I teach.
I’ve studied under some of the world’s most respected dog trainers and continue to expand my knowledge every day. My approach is open-minded and tailored: I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all methods. Every dog is unique, and their training should be too.
My holistic philosophy considers the whole dog, behaviour, diet, exercise, health, and breed-specific needs, ensuring lasting, positive results.
I offer a range of tailored training programmes to help you and your dog thrive. During our sessions, I’ll share practical, easy-to-understand guidance, and you’ll receive follow-up notes and videos to support your progress.
Whether you’re dealing with obedience issues, fear and phobias, separation anxiety, or reactivity and aggression, I’m here to help. Together, we can build the relationship with your dog that you’ve always dreamed of.

EXCELLENT Based on 24 reviews Holly Cowd2024-06-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After multiple surgeries and a year of recovery, my cretan rescue had pretty bad dog reactivity and general anxiety. Brodie helped us massively with training him and now he is back to how he used to be before his surgeries; he is running offlead and able to engage with dogs without losing his marbles both on the lead and offlead. There have even been some incidents where reactive offlead dogs have ran up to him and he has been able to keep his composure (could have easily become a dog fight in the past). Thank you Brodie 😊 amanda peffer2024-05-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Brodie had our dog lexie for 10 days residencial behaviour training and she did an amazing job. Lexie is a nervous dog but her instant reaction to all dogs was to show her teeth. Although she is still nervous of dogs, she is much much better. And I have a training plan to work with. Would definitely recommend Brodie. I can’t speak highly enough of the fantastic help and support which we have had from Brodie at Lakes Canine Academy. We have a challenging, highly bred, working, Springer Spaniel called Inca. We were beginning to despair, despite huge effort and other training, that we would never be able to master recall and basic discipline. Brodie has a logical, very focussed, no nonsense approach to solving problems. Using her skills and knowledge she is able to suggest different strategies to overcome any issues presented. Incas response has been transformational. Using just a few short intensive sessions we now have a dog, which along with us, has developed a full range of skills, is under control and able to enjoy freedom. Inca, while remaining very energetic is a total pleasure to be with. Kelly Scott2023-07-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I only wish we'd known about Lakes Canine Academy sooner. Brodie has helped us enormously with 1-2-1 training with our 2 year old Vizsla. Her friendly but no nonsense approach is just what we needed to succeed. I will be forever grateful, we are now enjoying our dog adventures the way we imagined. I would recommend her 100% if you need support with your dog, so worth it. Thank you again Brodie x Jade Ridgway2023-07-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have attended 3 X 2-1 sessions at Lakes Canine Academy to tackle issues with our Doberman pulling on the lead and recall. We have worked with Brodie who has been great. She is really knowledgeable and we have learnt a lot from her in only a few sessions which has brought great improvements with our dog. Brodie is always happy to answer queries between sessions to ensure that you are on track and encourages you to send videos and updates which is a great help. Thank you for all your help so far! We would definitely recommend Lakes Canine Academy to others. Helen Pearce2023-07-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My German shepherd now 2 year old male . He suffers with 2 severe medical conditions and has experienced many vet investigations and surgical procedures for such a young lad . All this has set him back hugely in training and his reactivity to other dogs was making it difficult to walk him. It was becoming a quite scary experience to the other dog owners too . We tried 2 other trainers for him before finding Brodie . We had to help get him on the right path , although we achieved great obedience from him he still did not know what to do in the moment. We found Brodie at this time and haven't looked back . She immediately recognised that we had to help him with his emotional responses when seeing other dogs and guide him through learning to socialise with dogs too as he had missed this as his younger months were spent with being poorly . Once we stepped back from the fear we also had when approaching other dogs with Brodies help we are learning to be confident in the moment . Our boy now knows he will be OK and is learning to relax more . He has a long way to go yet but the difference in him is huge. We cannot thank Brodie at Lakes Canine academy enough as we see a great future ahead of us now and a dog that even with his health limitations will be able to enjoy his time spent outdoors . Brodie has not only helped our 19mth old Boxer (Spanish rescue) Isla but has also taught us so much too about how we interact with her. She has given us the confidence that Isla can & will interact with other dogs. Having a reactive dog is extremely draining, however, with the correct training & tools, it can become bearable & eventually manageable. It is up to us to continue with the training techniques Brodie has taught us. Brodie provided us with videos & updates, especially when Isla boarded with her for a week’s assessment. This was so useful & reassuring for us. I am so glad we were told about Brodie & decided to contact her. Sam Rowan2023-01-28Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As cheesy as it sounds, I can honestly say Brodie from Lakes Canine Academy has saved my dog's life. I returned to the UK with my feral Saudi Arabian desert dog called “ Wadi ”. I had warned they can be difficult dogs to own but I ignored the advice because I had her from pup and “ I had had dogs going up ” ( I was so stupid) . I put a lot of time into training Wadi, she was not perfect but good. I socialized her with people and other dogs early and everything was going well but as she grew bigger and matured the problems started. She became highly reactive to other dogs. After a few fights and many crazy blowouts. I was forced to restrict her socially and I resorted to walking her at dawn and late at night. She had become a total nightmare to walk, patrolling the house at witching hour and constant barking at any noise. I would worry about her escaping and attacking people walking dogs nearby. I drew a line in the sand and decided if a professional could get her to a place where I could walk her from the front door calmly, I would have to consider putting her down due to her becoming dangerous. I spoke to Brodie on the phone and she was so open and interested. There was no pressure or sales pitch, she was very honest. I booked Wadi into for 4 weeks of intensive training with Brodie. Brodie was amazing, she took me through the process of reconditioning Wadi step by step. It was very thorough and almost scientific. Every choice Brodie made was based on observation. She tested Wadi behavior incrementally in endless situations, which only someone with Her experience / knowledge combined with the staff and facilities that she has at hand could do. Within a short time She had Wadi within meters of another dog sitting calmly. Within weeks she was able to walk on lead around other dogs. Brodie explained that wadi was a very difficult case because she was a very skittish/scared dog but once comfortable would bully other dogs and resource guard everything available. She went on to explain these are very good traits for a feral street dog to have and probably were handed down to her from her parents like any working dog breed to do a job. Brodie is not a miracle worker, there are some things you can’t change about a dog. To get round this, She formed a plan for me to manage Wadi. So we could give her the best life she can have at this point and through continued practice, eventually get her to be as comfortable as she can be around other dogs. Since completing the training Brodie has kept in touch and we are keeping Wadi on track and not undoing all her hard work. 5 stars all round, My life is soooo much less stressful now Wadi is not as mental. I have 3 dogs that went for intensive training with her and we were updated constantly there was nothing to ever worry about, I can’t believe the change in our dogs. Nothing is ever to much, we still have regular contact with Brodie and my dogs are having further training with her & they absolutely love her and Mark! Again, I would recommend her to anyone!
